Welcome tot the Baby Hatch

Foundlings are not a new phenomenon, but fortunately they are very rare.

Sometimes newborn babies are left in unsafe places, where they rarely survive.

The baby hatch exists to give a desperate mother the opportunity to place her child anonymously in a warm and safe bed.

Following the example of many other countries, the non-profit organisation Moeders voor Moeders established the first baby hatch in Belgium in 2000. It is located at Helmstraat 93, Borgerhout, Antwerp.

The baby hatch has its own emergency number +32 478 81 31 28, which is available at all times, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This allows the mother to make anonymous contact for a conversation or for helpful advice and support.
